Tauhu & Taugeh Salad
I would like to share with you today, a salad dish I frequently prepare. It is simple and very easy to prepare. I used to serve this salad with sambal kicap (a pungent soysauce dressing).
2 pieces of tauhu (beancurd) – deep fry, drain and slice
A handful of taugeh (beansprout) – blanch and drain
Tomato – cut into small wedges
Sambal kicap:
(Unless you’re making a large amount, it is best to use a mortar & pestle)
2 garlic
4 chilli padi (bird’s eye chilli) – more if you like it hot
1 tbsp sugar
Salt to taste
Sweet Soy Sauce
Lime
Pound garlic and chilli until fine. Add in sugar and salt. Just press and rub to crush the sugar. Then mix in the soy sauce. Not too much. Just until it covers the pounded mixture. Squeeze in some lime juice. Arrange the vegetables on a plate and drizzle the sambal kicap just before eating.
