Fried Chicken (Mamak Style)

We had fried chicken (mamak style) for dinner. Got the recipe some time back. I don’t really remember from which site was it. But whoever posted it, thanks. I could say that this fried chicken, is mamak-style. Very spicy and crispy.

FRIED CHICKEN (MAMAK STYLE)

1.5 kg chicken (cut and cleaned)

1 1/2 tsp jintan putih (cummin - whole, not the powdered ones)

1 tsp garlic paste

2 tsp ginger paste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder (kunyit serbuk)

1 tbsp coriander powder (serbuk ketumbar)

1/4 tsp black pepper powder

1 1/2 tbsp chilli powder

2 tbsp tomato puree

2 tbsp rice flour

3 stalk curry leaves

salt

Mix all spices together and coat chicken. Marinate for 10 to 15 minutes. Deep fry in hot oil. Drain and serve with rice and curry.

Note: I did not add black pepper powder as I think it would be too spicy for the little ones. Substitute the tomato puree with tairu or yogurt and omit the cummin, rice flour and curry leaves, then bake or pan-fry (with a little oil) covered. You’ll get tandoori chicken.
